Beauty spot: New Year hair:

After all the parties it's time to give your hair a deep-down clean

Party season is over. It's time to get clean. First, the head. My scalp, bored of its own sebum and copious Batiste, is crying out for help. I'm lusting after fresh, coconuty hair, but first I have to get squeaky. Wella's Pure Shampoo (£8.99, wellaprofessionals.co.uk) banishes "product build-up, residual impurities and pollutants". It leaves me cleaner than I've ever been. But I'm also dry, "prepared for deep hydration". Step two: Umberto Giannini's Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm (£5.61, boots.co.uk) is a "hair night cream". Just rub it in, then wake up the next morning. It leaves hair beautifully soft. Not too perky, but at this time of year, no one expects you to be.
